Software Engineer

The Athletic is rapidly innovating in the world of journalism and building a high quality subscription product. As a Software Engineer, you'll work closely with the Newsroom staff and other product and engineering teams, and be trusted to dream up and try out your own ideas. You will be joining a team of generalists and will have the opportunity to work on the whole stack: frontend, backend, database, and APIs. Responsibilities include implementing growth-related features, suggesting product improvements, and architecting scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of full-stack engineering experience and be comfortable building the frontend, with a desire to grow skills in the backend and data persistence layer. Experience with video capabilities is a plus. This role can be based in a 100% remote capacity within Australia.
