Staff Software Engineer - ControlCheck

Technical Leadership:

• Set technical direction for the ControlCheck team, designing work spanning multiple domains over months.
• Contribute to critical architectural decisions for services built on Ruby on Rails and Python FastAPI, deployed via Terraform.
• Drive decoupling of services and apply microservices patterns as the product scales.

Cross-Team Collaboration:

• Lead cross-team dependency management and coordinate with Product, QA, and adjacent engineering teams.
• Communicate large systems and technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• Influence at the Engineering Manager level on team execution, hiring signal, and technical roadmap.

Mentorship and Growth:

• Mentor senior engineers and build technical judgment in others.
• Help elevate the whole team's technical ability and execution, doubling collective output.
• Maintain a customer service mentality toward the team, making everyone else's work better.
