Senior Software Engineer, Streaming Infrastructure

• The Ingestion team builds and operates managed, multi-tenant platforms that move data out of online databases for offline processing.
• Systems include SpinalTap for near real-time CDC streaming to Kafka and DBExports for periodic full-table snapshots.
• Teams across Airbnb depend on these systems, including payments, fraud detection, financial reporting, search, messaging, notifications, and machine learning.

The Difference You Will Make:

• Be hands-on with code, design, and test to deliver multi-month projects on time.
• Design, build, and operate large-scale CDC and batch export systems for every online database.
• Shape the architecture of DMT's unified data movement platform and improve reliability, performance, and efficiency.

Your Expertise:

• 5+ years building and operating large-scale backend distributed systems such as data ingestion, streaming, CDC, storage, or data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and database change capture mechanisms like binlogs or Debezium.
• Strong ownership, collaboration, and communication in a remote-working environment.
