Senior Backend Engineer, Risk/ Collections

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend development initiatives within the Risk/ Collections team. This role goes beyond coding: you’ll help shape technical direction, foster engineering best practices, and ensure the performance and scalability of backend systems that directly support Clara’s operational efficiency. You’ll also mentor junior developers, influence architecture decisions, and work cross-functionally to tackle some of Clara’s most impactful challenges. Your responsibilities will include: Leading backend design and implementation for high-impact internal systems and services, collaborating across the full product lifecycle—from ideation to deployment, mentoring junior developers and upholding strong engineering standards and writing scalable, testable code with unit and integration testing built in. Maintaining and evolving microservices within a modern architecture, participating in cross-team problem-solving and architectural discussions and producing clear documentation and conducting code reviews to ensure quality and consistency. Integrating with internal and external systems via REST and SOAP APIs.
