Founding Engineer

The Mission:

• We are building the world's first AI tutor that teaches instead of waiting to be asked, combining frontier AI with thoughtful product design and learning science.
• We believe every student deserves a personalized tutor that adapts to them, and we aim to give every student access to that guidance.

The Role:

• As the first Founding Engineer, you will define both the product and technical foundation, spending time debating product decisions and turning ambitious ideas into software students love.
• You will own full-stack product development, AI systems, and infrastructure, shipping every week without accumulating technical debt.

What You'll Own:

• How Athena remembers every learner and decides when to intervene, how we measure learning, and how AI explanations improve over time.
• AI-powered tutoring experiences, production AI systems, product quality, and internal tooling for rapid iteration.

What You Bring:

• Experience building and shipping production software across multiple layers of the stack, with strong product instincts and attention to user experience.
• A track record of operating independently in early-stage environments, using AI to accelerate development without compromising quality.
