Job Description

The Underwriter position involves analyzing bank statements for income and reviewing DSCR loans and other Non-QM income types. The role includes responding to scenario questions from Loan Officers and processors, providing accurate income calculations, and reviewing credit, income, asset, and property documentation for compliance and investor guidelines. The Underwriter will identify and work through alternatives for loans outside of guidelines, communicate with investors, loan officers, and processors, and research complex investor guidelines. They must recommend alternative loan structures, meet productivity and quality measurements, review tax returns for self-employed borrowers, and provide accurate written correspondence, adhering to a 24-hour turnaround standard. Additional duties may be assigned. Qualifications include strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to interpret multiple investor guidelines, familiarity with Non-QM income types, and attention to detail. Must demonstrate analytical skills, decision-making ability, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Superior knowledge of property and credit underwriting requirements is required, along with experience with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and private mortgage insurance companies. Desired experience includes five or more years of mortgage underwriting, current experience underwriting VA mortgage loans, and DE/LAPP/SAR certifications.
