Controller

About the Role:

• We are hiring our first Controller to own accounting, tax, and finance operations at Basic Capital.
• You will manage proprietary investments held through individual LLCs, specifically annual accounting and tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own accounting and administration for over 1,000 individual LLCs, including monthly loan and servicing tapes.
• Prepare and file year-end tax returns and K-1s for every LLC.
• Partner with engineering to automate accounting workflows using AI and do deep data work to keep every entity reconciled.

Required Competencies:

• Experience with partnership or LLC accounting, including capital accounts, allocations, and K-1s.
• Hands-on experience preparing partnership returns in UltraTax CS or similar professional tax software.
• Controller-level experience with monthly close, budgeting, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
