Book Editor and Proofreader

Key Responsibilities:

• Review manuscripts for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, consistency, and readability.
• Provide editorial feedback that respects each author’s voice while maintaining high standards.
• Perform copy editing and proofreading, check formatting, track changes, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in book editing, proofreading, copy editing, or publishing.
• Excellent written English and strong knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
• Familiarity with UK English spelling and publishing standards.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills using Microsoft Word and Track Changes.

Additional Information:

• Remote opportunity for independent, clear communicators.
• Experience with fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, or academic content is useful.
• A degree in English, Publishing, Journalism, or Literature is preferred but not required.
