Primary Function of Position:
- The Upstream Reimbursement Strategist is the architect of long-range reimbursement and market access strategy.
- This role shapes the narrative for why a product deserves reimbursement and builds the data package to support it.
- Shared responsibility for midstream activities until a dedicated Midstream hire is made.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with HEOR to design and oversee health economic studies supporting reimbursement.
- Lead CPT/HCPCS code strategy and CMS payment policy analysis.
- Serve as primary reimbursement strategy interface with clinical development, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs.
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree required; health policy degree preferred.
- 8+ years in medical device market access, health economics, or reimbursement strategy.
- Deep working knowledge of CMS OPPS/PFS/ASC payment systems and CPT code applications.
