Software Engineer, Platform Engineering (L2)

About the role:

• This position is an engineering role within Twilio Platform Engineering, suited to an engineer building hands-on experience with highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
• You will help build and operate backend services at scale, working alongside more senior engineers on dual-cloud infrastructure spanning AWS and Azure.
• Get hands-on with Kubernetes, contribute to Terraform-based infrastructure automation, and write production code using modern AI-assisted tooling.

What you'll do:

• Design, build, and operate services that support Kubernetes clusters at scale under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established testing standards across the team.
• Support cloud configurations across AWS and Azure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and maintain observability coverage.

Qualifications:

• 1-2+ years of professional software engineering experience with exposure to Kubernetes and backend services.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Shell, Terraform, YAML, or Go, and basic familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
