Software Engineer-Platform Engineering (L3)

About the job:

• This is a critical engineering role within Twilio Platform Engineering, requiring a hands-on engineer capable of developing, deploying, and managing highly available, massive-scale distributed systems.
• The systems process over 12 billion emails during peak events, and the role involves building and operating resilient backend services at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Wear the customer's shoes: design, build, and operate services and automations to manage Kubernetes clusters at scale, partnering with product management and technical leadership.
• Be an owner: drive rigorous code reviews, ensure maintainable patterns, and maintain high testing standards across the platform.
• Champion engineering health: proactively identify technical debt, system bottlenecks, and single points of failure, balancing feature delivery with refactoring.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating resilient backend services at scale using Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD), CI/CD pipelines (Harness), and strong proficiency in Shell, Terraform, and Go.
• Solid experience deploying and managing production workloads in AWS or Azure, with deep understanding of container networking and distributed systems.
