The role:
- Owns ShiftKey’s AI infrastructure layer: organizational knowledge platform, agent hosting, and retrieval layer.
- Builds toward an AI-native company in a regulated HIPAA environment.
- Inherits serious retrieval foundations and owns architecture of everything next.
What you’ll be doing:
- Evolving the AI knowledge platform with retrieval, indexing, and synthesis layer.
- Architecting and operating agentic infrastructure on AWS with cost guardrails.
- Partnering with product engineering to define the AI platform API surface.
What you’ll need:
- 7+ years of software engineering, 2+ years in production AI/LLM systems.
- Retrieval engineering beyond basics: hybrid search, re-ranking, query transformation.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Bedrock, Terraform, and production observability.
