Senior Staff Software Engineer, Distributed Systems

Role and Impact:

• You will lead the technical future of the Convert product suite, serving large enterprises and rethinking a modern, AI-native conversion platform.
• This is a cross-team technical leadership role working across a complex, revenue-generating system to define its evolution.
• You will partner directly with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, and Design to turn vision into shippable outcomes.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Architect high-throughput distributed systems and APIs for low-latency, high-availability data processing.
• Lead foundational platform investments and data infrastructure to unlock new product capabilities.
• Partner with data scientists and ML engineers to productionize statistical and AI/ML capabilities into reliable backend infrastructure.

Leadership and Culture:

• Influence the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across the Convert pillar and partner pillars.
• Raise the engineering bar through architecture review, technical standards, and operational excellence practices.
• Mentor and grow staff and senior engineers, shaping the technical culture and multiplying your impact.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in architecting and operating backend and distributed systems at scale.
• Strong technical foundation in languages like Python, Java, or Go, with deep fluency in distributed systems patterns and large-scale system design.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across ambiguous, cross-pillar initiatives, influencing architecture and execution beyond your immediate team.
