Software Engineer - Backend

As a Senior or Staff Backend Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing the foundational technologies that power Calm's products. As part of a lean, high-impact team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transformative systems. Our custom-built content management system delivers the immersive, calming experience that defines Calm. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and functional leaders across the organization to bring Calm's vision to life, creating magical experiences for millions of users worldwide. The Senior or Staff Backend Software Engineer is a critical member of the Calm Engineering Team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our mobile and web applications. You will work closely with a team of engineers, designers, product managers, and customers to ensure that our products are reliable, performant, and secure. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, defining technical specifications, writing high-quality code, ensuring high test coverage, implementing monitoring, and working with other teams to ensure a smooth development and deployment process. You will also stay up-to-date on the latest backend technologies and trends and mentor other software engineers.
