Engineering Manager II - WhatsApp India Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect for massive scale: Own high-level architecture for core Phone platform components, including CPaaS abstractions and shared APIs.
• Own Phone Billing end to end: Manage usage metering, rating, and audit trails with zero tolerance for errors.
• Drive high-concurrency innovation: Lead initiatives to improve reliability and throughput across time-sensitive APIs.

Technical Requirements:

• 9+ years backend engineering experience with 2+ years leadership in fault-tolerant systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data models, especially transactional data.

Team and Culture:

• Lead a world-class team of 8+ engineers, building leadership pipeline and raising the hiring bar.
• Participate in design reviews, deep dives, and on-call rotations to support a high-bar culture.
• Leverage AI tools to write, refactor, and test code while implementing guardrails for reliability.
