Staff Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role:

• This role owns the technical direction for Quora's feed ranking and retrieval, leading modeling bets and integrating LLMs to redefine content ranking.
• Beyond the home feed, you'll scale recommendation surfaces like notifications and digest emails, while architecting tools for the engineering organization.
• High-leverage, hands-on IC role with organization-wide scope, writing production code and mentoring rising talent.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience in machine learning, with 4+ years optimizing home feed recommender systems for social media or UGC platforms.
• Deep knowledge of the full recommender stack: candidate generation, retrieval, ranking, re-ranking, embeddings, and multi-objective optimization.
• Experience leading large-scale ML projects end-to-end with measurable outcomes and strong communication skills.
