Quora

Infrastructure engineers build, maintain, and operate large-scale distributed systems to support Quora. The engineers are responsible for reliability, scalability and efficiency of various services, using open source storage systems. This role involves solving technically challenging problems that have a huge impact on Quora’s mission.

You will be a key member of the newly created Security Engineering Team, with a mission to keep Quora safe from security problems by building robust protections around our products, infrastructure and people. The small engineering team works on challenging problems every day and engineers are encouraged to think big and experiment with new ideas.

Lead the Growth team on Poe, responsible for growing the Poe user base, which includes defining the strategic direction, driving alignment with leadership, fast execution, and drive learnings that inform future work. Responsibilities include contributing to an early-stage team in a fast-paced, startup environment focused on driving new users to discover, use, and retain on Poe and researching and understanding the latest in Gen AI in order to inform product priorities.

This role will be working on our Poe product, building new monetization features. As a senior engineer on the team, you'll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to conceptualize, build, and iterate on monetization features from end to end. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills who wants to make a significant impact on a rapidly growing AI platform.

The AI Ecosystem team is Poe’s outward-facing partnerships team that manages commercial relationships and technical integrations with the world’s leading AI labs, inference providers, and fast-growing AI startups. The ideal hire is an AI enthusiast who loves stress-testing the newest AI models, sweats every detail, and pairs solid numeracy with user empathy. This is a 6-month contract role with the possibility of conversion.

Improve existing Machine Learning systems using your expertise. Identify new opportunities to apply Machine Learning to different parts of the Quora product. Work with other engineers to implement algorithms and systems in an efficient way; Take end-to-end ownership of Machine Learning systems -- from data pipelines and training, to realtime prediction engine.
