Sr. Backend Engineers (Card Platform)

Responsibilities:

• Write lots of code for backend (either Kotlin or Python) with high standards for quality for the Affirm Card product.
• Design systems and contribute to implementation, working cross-functionally with Product, Analytics, and other engineering teams.
• Build APIs and data models for service-oriented and event-driven architectures.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience as a backend senior software engineer in Python or Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of relational database best practices and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience with async communication.

Additional:

• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers is a plus.
• Prior experience with card systems (e.g., Marqeta, Stripe, FIS) is a plus.
• Passion for working with multi-functional teams including Product, Design, Analytics, and Business.
