Senior Counsel

At Chainguard, the company is building the foundations of a safer software supply chain, which means building a legal function that’s secure, scalable, and sharp. Looking for a legal operator who thrives at the intersection of commercial rigor and open source reality. The Senior Counsel will be the company's go-to expert for procurement contracts and open source compliance, bringing clarity to complexity, reducing friction across the organization, and helping scale the company's systems. The role includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating MSAs, SOWs, SaaS agreements, supply agreements, NDAs, sponsorships, and more. It also requires applying a deep understanding of open source licensing to ensure compliance while supporting a company built on and for open source, helping the company scale while staying aligned with the broader open source ecosystem. The Senior Counsel will design and evolve the company's procurement policies, playbooks, and templates to improve speed and consistency, build internal training so the teams know how to engage with Legal, partner with teams across the company to align legal guidance with business goals, translate legal risk into business language and help teams make confident, compliant decisions, and advise on compliance obligations (data privacy, anti-bribery, export controls, etc.)
