Accountant

Trupanion is looking for a dynamic, energetic, and highly curious Accountant who will play a key role in the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and analytics. As a critical member of a rapidly growing public company, this role will work collaboratively across the finance team to complete monthly close tasks and duties as well as cross-functional coordination among teams and departments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of prioritizing and managing tasks and projects with competing deadlines, and a passion for process improvement. This is a hands-on position that will gain exposure to a variety of areas while helping the company to scale rapidly. Key Responsibilities Include: Contribute to monthly close in accordance with US GAAP to meet close, reporting, and filing timelines and ensure adherence to SOX requirements for related areas. Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations in areas such as revenue, claims, and cash. Work on ad-hoc special projects and analysis, including support for statutory reporting efforts. Prepare internal and external deliverables for SEC reporting, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits. Think critically and maintain an inquisitive mentality to recommend, implement, and document process improvements to promote efficiency and SOX compliance.
