Staff Engineer

Your Role:

• You will shape the technical direction of three squads as a senior individual contributor, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering.
• Your impact will be measured by how much the whole engineering team improves: architecture quality, delivery speed, and technical level of engineers.

What You Will Do:

• Define and maintain the target architecture, anticipate technical problems, and make design decisions that avoid them.
• Write code on shared libraries, core services, and migrations; mentor engineers and lead the backend community.
• Work with engineering leadership to structure technical work, staff initiatives, and weigh technical investment against product needs.

Who You Are:

• You have 8+ years in software engineering with a transverse or lead role, strong backend skills in Ruby or similar, and experience with distributed systems, Kafka, and AWS.
• You know when structure adds value, prefer clear code, and can align stakeholders without authority.
• You are comfortable with disagreement, ask why before how, and connect technical choices to user and business outcomes.
