Role Responsibilities:
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and other codes to ensure billing compliance and represent clinical documentation.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and issue compliant queries when information is ambiguous or incomplete.
- Conduct medical record audits to identify trends and participate in performance improvement projects for documentation practices.
Qualifications:
- Possess 3+ years of outpatient medical coding experience and a credential such as CPC, CRC, or CCS.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare regulations like Medicare and HEDIS.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, analytical skills for complex records, and effective communication to resolve documentation issues.
Work Environment:
- Work effectively in a primarily remote setting with dedicated, interruption-free space to protect patient PHI/HIPAA information.
- Utilize provided telephony applications and equipment, and ensure home internet meets minimum speed requirements for connectivity.
