Responsibilities include editing and publishing stories from sportswriters, collaborating with editors on breaking news coverage, and coordinating with reporters. The role requires a strong understanding of style and story structure, with the ability to improve pieces as needed. Additional responsibilities involve planning coverage of key events, maintaining an editorial budget, and collaborating with design and photo teams. At times, the editor will write and report spot news, identify trending stories, and use real-time metrics to assess performance. Candidates need 4+ years of editing experience, strong copy editing skills, and familiarity with social media platforms. Managerial experience is a bonus, as is familiarity with WordPress.
