Clinical Data Analyst – Same Day Surgery/Observation Coder

As a Clinical Data Analyst – Same Day Surgery/Observation Coder at UChicago Medicine, you will be a part of a world-class academic health-care system. This is a remote, work from home opportunity and you may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area. Under general direction, you will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from inpatient and outpatient medical records for optimal and timely reimbursement and quality reporting. Essential job functions include assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and assigning DRGs for inpatient medical records accounts; assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and CPT codes for outpatient medical record accounts, abstracting key data elements required for billing, reviewing records for clinical pertinence, interacting with providers for clarification of documentation/education, abstracting and coding records for patient currently in the Hospitals, for interim billing purposes, reviewing records according to pre-established criteria for referral to physician reviewers, communicating with the medical staff to ensure appropriate assignment of principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures, and maintaining CE credits in accordance with the American Health Information Management Association's requirements.
