Role Description:

  • You will design and own the network infrastructure that connects building controls, sensors, gateways, data centers, and other operational technology to Motion.cloud.
  • Your mission is to make connectivity boring: reliable, observable, secure, and scalable across everything from a single building to complex campuses and distributed customer portfolios.
  • This is not an HVAC operations role; you will ensure endpoints communicate reliably through local networks, fiber, cellular, Starlink, LoRaWAN, wireless backhaul, and other communications infrastructure.

Technical Requirements:

  • 6-8+ years of network engineering with deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with cellular networking (LTE/5G), satellite connectivity (Starlink), RF fundamentals, LoRaWAN, and network monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with OT networking, building controls communication (BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP), and IoT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design network architectures for customer buildings, campuses, data centers, and distributed portfolios, incorporating Ethernet, fiber, cellular, Starlink, LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi, and wireless backhaul.
  • Own the operational health of network and communications infrastructure, including monitoring, incident response, and proactive reliability.
  • Validate end-to-end communication from field devices through gateways, customer networks, WAN infrastructure, and Motion.cloud, and partner with customer IT teams.

The Profile:

  • You are a network engineer who enjoys figuring out how to connect mechanical rooms to infrastructure across buildings using fiber, cellular, Starlink, LoRaWAN, or wireless backhaul.
  • You think in diagrams and troubleshoot from end to end: device, RF, gateway, switch, firewall, carrier, VPN, Internet connection, and cloud.
  • You are looking for a high-impact role where you can establish networking standards and architecture behind a rapidly growing fleet of connected customer infrastructure.
