Position Overview:

  • You walk alongside participants as a peer who has navigated recovery from mental health, substance use, or justice involvement.
  • You help each person set their own goals, build practical strategies, and stay connected to support during reentry.
  • This is a non-clinical, lived-experience role with no diagnosis or treatment responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct virtual enrollment and peer support sessions, tailoring frequency and approach to each participant's goals.
  • Draw on your own recovery or reentry experience to build trust, model hope, and support long-term community reintegration.
  • Maintain a confidential, respectful virtual space and document each session accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a peer support specialist (e.g., NCPRSS, NCPS, or state-recognized credential).
  • Lived experience of recovery from mental health, substance use, or justice system involvement.
  • Comfort delivering services virtually via secure video and telephone with reliable internet and private space.

Engagement Details:

  • As an independent contractor, you supply your own internet, private workspace, and video-capable device.
  • The program uses an agency-approved secure delivery platform for all virtual sessions.
  • A brief contract orientation covers federal scope and documentation standards.
