Role Overview:
- This is a senior technical position focused on advanced system troubleshooting and commissioning support for electron beam technology, with significant remote diagnostic work.
- Travel is estimated at 25-30% and is focused on complex, non-routine challenges, not standard installation or maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for machine commissioning and start-up at the Lombard facility and customer sites across North America.
- Serve as the primary internal escalation point for complex system-level issues on EB welding and additive manufacturing equipment.
- Design and deliver training programs for customers and mentor Field Service Engineers new to the technology.
Technical & Customer Interface:
- Perform targeted PLC diagnostics and adjustments, with a preference for Siemens/TIA Portal, and support HMI configuration.
- Coordinate closely with engineering and project teams in Germany on technical issues and system improvements.
- Act as the senior technical contact for key customer accounts and champion a strong safety culture around high-voltage and vacuum systems.
