Job Overview:
- Responsible for technical coding of inpatient and outpatient services.
- Assign ICD-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, modifiers, and MS-DRG/APC classifications.
- Interact with medical staff, nursing, and ancillary departments for documentation needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with record documentation by requesting clarification.
- Educate physicians and staff about documentation needed for coding.
- Train new coding staff and code all types of encounters as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Certification required upon hire: CCA, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS.
- Meet production standards and maintain 95% quality accuracy.
