Investor Relations and Stewardship:

  • Manage relationships with current and prospective philanthropic investors, family offices, and institutional donors.
  • Partner with the CEO to develop fundraising materials and investment cases, and support Investment Committee reporting.
  • Coordinate investor events and co-investment programs to deepen donor connections.

Strategic Communications & Policy Advocacy:

  • Craft and protect the Beginnings Fund narrative, positioning it as a collaborative, Africa-driven authority on maternal and newborn health.
  • Oversee multi-channel content creation including website, op-eds, press releases, and digital media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional and international journalists covering global health and philanthropy.

Country-Level Impact Storytelling:

  • Work hand-in-hand with the Africa-based Investment Team to extract clinical and system-level metrics and translate them into human-centric success stories.
  • Lead planning and communication for major milestones, regional summits, donor field visits, and global health convenings.
  • Ensure the Fund’s impact is effectively communicated to governments, partners, and investors.

Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in Investor Relations, Strategic Communications, Philanthropic Development, or Public Affairs, with Africa-focused global health experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Sub-Saharan Africa's developmental, political, and healthcare landscapes.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with comfort in both technical reports and narrative-driven storytelling.

Beginnings Fund

The Beginnings Fund is a philanthropic initiative that accelerates maternal and newborn survival in Africa by investing in the products, people, and systems needed to sustainably improve care at scale. The fund, fiscally sponsored by Global Impact, aims to raise $1 billion over ten years and is led by a majority-Africa-based team.
