Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and disseminate press releases, official statements, and media advisories in accordance with VA public affairs guidelines.
- Manage social media strategies across federal platforms, creating policy-compliant content that drives stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate with program managers and design teams to produce multimedia communications products like newsletters, fact sheets, and video scripts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in communications, public relations, or public affairs for large or complex organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or related discipline; prior federal or healthcare communications experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain VA PIV credential and pass background investigation; U.S. citizenship or work authorization required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting VA/VHA communications programs with knowledge of VA brand standards and approval processes.
- Familiarity with AI, health IT, or emerging technology topics and ability to translate technical concepts for non-expert audiences.
- Experience with federal digital communications platforms (e.g., VA.gov, GovDelivery) and Section 508 compliance.
