Job Description

Product plays a pivotal role at The Athletic, spearheading critical cross-functional initiatives and leading teams of engineers, designers, marketers, and analysts to execute seamlessly on behalf of the business and our users. As a Director of Product, you will be a key strategic and operational leader, partnering closely with company executives and leading one or more Product Managers. You will report to the VP of Product. Own the strategy and roadmap for product areas to meet business objectives, leveraging expertise in Platform and Technical Product, and understanding of user and technical needs. Partner with tech executives across product, design, engineering, data, marketing, and the newsroom. Lead large cross-functional working groups on strategic initiatives and align with the Product team. Lead a team of Product Managers, fostering a collaborative environment and mentoring PM colleagues. Improve organizational operations, investing in platforms and processes to ship and experiment at scale.
