The Role:
- Own large slices of the system, end-to-end, including approach, implementation, and operation.
- Build the shared work graph and human-facing operating surface for the Beads Team Server.
- Host Gas City for agent orchestration, making what's running, stuck, and token-efficient visible.
How We Work:
- Run our own product on itself; Gas City factories write design docs, implement, and review PRs.
- Value leverage and quality over who typed the code; build learnings back into the product.
- Operate as factory operators, aiming to improve efficiency daily.
Technical Shape:
- Strong background in Go, with comfort in state, concurrency, and failure: transactions, idempotency, retries, reconciliation loops.
- Experience with storage engines, SQL, Dolt, Kubernetes, controllers, or reliability engineering.
- Follow problems through code, tests, review, and production; deep experience in one area is enough.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range $180,000–$240,000 depending on experience, plus founding-engineer equity with standard vesting.
- Medical, dental, and vision fully covered for you and 50% for dependents; 401(k) starting Jan 1, 2027.
- Standard tech PTO plus holidays, home-office/equipment budget, and annual learning/conference budget.
Gas City
Gas City builds the open-source stack that teams use to run coding agents at scale, including the work graph Beads and the agent orchestration tool Gas City. We are a small, flat organization of founding engineers who work 1:1 with the CTO and run our own product on itself, using agents to write and review code.
