About the Role:

  • This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a high-impact, high-visibility initiative from the ground up, working at the intersection of policy, communications, and community engagement.
  • You will partner closely with an Advisory Board, Steering Committee, and other stakeholders to shape strategy and drive execution.
  • As the first staff member, you'll wear multiple hats, from preparing strategy presentations to managing administrative tasks.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive day-to-day leadership of a statewide initiative, translating strategic priorities into work plans and measurable goals.
  • Build and manage partnerships with community leaders, nonprofits, and regional partners to expand statewide engagement.
  • Establish core systems, workflows, and processes, including budget oversight, compliance, and vendor management.

What You'll Bring:

  • 7+ years in program leadership, campaigns, or coalition-building, with familiarity in racial justice movements.
  • Experience launching new programs, working with boards, and navigating grant-funded environments.
  • Strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, comfort with ambiguity, and financial and operational acumen.

Work Environment:

  • This is a fully remote role, with California residency preferred and travel within California estimated 2-3 times per quarter.
  • The position requires extended periods of sitting, computer work, and phone or virtual meetings.
