Engineering Manager, Architecture Engineering

About the Role:

• Lead, hire, and grow a team of site reliability and backend engineers.
• Balance production reliability with platform projects including zero-downtime Redis upgrades and durable workflow migration.

Responsibilities:

• Own service-level objectives, error budgets, alerting, and weekly operational reviews for job processing and caching.
• Manage capacity planning, support escalations, and incident follow-ups.
• Run GitLab.com's first-tier on-call rotation and serve as incident commander for high-severity incidents.

Requirements:

• Experience managing engineering teams delivering high-performance services at scale.
• Technical depth in Redis and Sidekiq infrastructure.
• Experience with SLOs, on-call rotations, and leading fully remote teams across time zones.
