Movement Communications Specialist, Africa (Contract)

Responsibilities:

• Connections & Dialogue: Foster trust and understanding with African communities through active, two-way communication.
• Software Deployment: Collaborate with the team to facilitate the deployment of new product and technology features on relevant Wikis.
• Movement Pulse & Mapping: Monitor community channels for news and discussions, and help map editor communities and movement priorities in Africa.

Skills & Experience:

• Excellent written English, with fluency in at least one other African language being beneficial.
• Knowledge of Wikimedia communities' dynamics, policies, and channels, with experience in multilingual, multicultural environments.
• Strong collaboration and organizational skills, including handling logistics like scheduling and meeting deadlines.

Additional Preferences:

• Experience contributing to Wikimedia projects or familiarity with free knowledge communities, the education sector, or open source culture.
