Responsibilities:
- Build and lead the Legal function from the ground up as the first full-time legal hire.
- Serve as strategic DRI on sensitive initiatives, including litigation, strategic partnerships, and board matters.
- Design scalable systems for contracting, compliance, employment, corporate governance, privacy, and intellectual property.
- Proactively identify risk areas and build policies to mitigate them.
The Role Scope:
- Own the full legal stack: corporate, compliance, employment, IP, and litigation with support from outside counsel.
- Drive mission-critical company priorities while implementing processes and establishing standards.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Product & Design, GTM, and Finance teams.
- Provide strategic guidance aligned with long-term goals and shape the legal architecture for company scale.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 8–10 years of legal experience with both law firm and in-house environments.
- A builder mentality to create legal systems and operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Exceptional judgment and ability to partner with product and engineering to enable rapid innovation.
- A strategic, embedded legal partner motivated to scale the team after establishing foundations.
