Senior Software Engineering Manager - FinOps Platform Services

Platform Ownership:

• Own the operational health and SLOs for Trino, Lightdash, Coder, Jupyter, Redash, Hive Metastore, and Nessie.
• Build dashboards, alerting, and runbooks for platform reliability and incident response.
• Drive the upgrade cadence for all services, balancing stability with security and feature releases.

Platform Evolution:

• Lead the Hive Metastore to Nessie migration for versioned Iceberg catalog with Git-like branching.
• Evolve Lightdash, Coder, and Jupyter platforms for governed self-service analytics and developer environments.
• Evaluate and adopt new open-source technologies to raise the platform’s ceiling and reduce toil.

People Leadership:

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 3-5 platform engineers with clear goals and career development paths.
• Hire to match platform scope and foster a culture of operational excellence and blameless retrospectives.
• Set engineering standards for building, deploying, monitoring, and documenting all platform services.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Partner with DevOps on Kubernetes, networking, and CI/CD needs for platform services.
• Serve as the liaison to data engineers and FinOps practitioners to prioritize improvements.
• Collaborate with Data Governance to ensure alignment with security, lineage, and access control standards.
