The Abortion Criminal Defense Initiative (ACDI) addresses the criminal defense needs of abortion providers, patients, and those helping people seek abortion care.
We are a small and mighty team of criminal defense attorneys managing a network of experienced defenders nationwide.

What You'll Do:

Support defensive and affirmative advocacy related to the criminalization of abortion care through legal research and writing.
Track cases, perform intakes, and assist with drafting memoranda, briefs, motions, and training resources.
Engage with coalition partners and attend reproductive-rights orientation sessions.

What You'll Bring:

Enrollment at an ABA accredited law school with at least one year completed.
Excellent legal research, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
A demonstrated commitment to criminal defense, public interest law, civil rights, and social justice.

Internship Logistics:

Full-time commitment of 35 hours/week for 10 consecutive weeks, starting May 24 or June 7.
Remote or hybrid based in New York City or Washington D.C., with a stipend of $24/hour.
