Senior Network Engineer/Edge Operations

Responsibilities:

• Support the Operations Section Manager with personnel administration, strategic planning, and staff planning.
• Mentor network operations engineers in the practical application of current/emergent technologies, agile IT, ITIL and continuous improvement practices and techniques.
• Participate in shift lead duties to serve as “queue managers”.

Technical Skills:

• Maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting support for NIHNet’s DWDM circuits (fiber rings).
• Work with Network Architecture team to identify and recommend software defined networking (SDN) solutions.
• Coordinate with Office of Research and Facilities (ORF) to communicate issues and changes.

Wireless LAN Support:

• Support Cisco-based, backend infrastructure for wireless LANs.
• Recommend wireless LAN changes to IC POCs based on anomalies detected by CIT tools.
• Ensure wireless configurations and solutions are in accordance with published CIT Wireless Baseline Standards.
