Analytical Skills
Clinical Documentation Review and Reporting:
- Assess clinical documentation for compliance with AMA and CMS guidelines.
- Validate documentation in conjunction with charges and evaluate billing accuracy.
- Investigate opportunities for improvement and provide guidance to providers via face-to-face meetings.
Clinical Coding Research and Education:
- Participate in development of OIG Work Plan and research coding inquiries.
- Provide regular education to providers, clinical staff, and billing staff on coding standards.
- Update coding department newsletters, education materials, and reference documents.
Qualifications:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to obtain AHIMA or AAPC coding certification within 12 months.
- Preferred: AAS in Health Information Management and three years of coding experience.
- Must hold a valid driver's license when driving for work-related reasons.
