Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing across a fully remote workforce. This role leads the payroll team, supports internal and external audits, ensures SOX compliance, and ensures Virta has scalable, well-documented payroll processes and controls. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, HR, and Legal, and drive continuous improvements to support Virta’s rapid growth. Responsibilities include supervising the payroll team, owning multi-state payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with regulations, leading payroll audits, preparing reports, and acting as the primary escalation point for payroll issues. The Payroll Manager will also partner with Accounting and Legal to ensure payroll operations are well-documented and champion continuous process improvement while supporting initiatives such as system upgrades and vendor transitions.
