About the Role:

  • Under established coding principles, reviews, analyzes, and validates diagnostic and procedural codes applied by front-end coding and clinical teams.
  • Abstracts information from the electronic health record to compile a patient database supporting medical research, care evaluation, and administrative decisions.
  • Promotes provider/patient continuity, accurate database information, and optimized reimbursement while ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, plus RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCP, or CCA certification.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively and work independently and remotely.

Core Competencies:

  • Effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to recognize patterns and trends and escalate findings for root-cause analysis.
  • Commitment to legal and ethical guidelines as outlined in the HFHS Code of Conduct.
