Lead Database Reliability Engineer

Role Overview:

• Act as a senior technical leader building, scaling, and maintaining highly reliable database systems for mission-critical applications in cloud environments.
• Drive automation, observability, performance optimization, and incident response while ensuring security and compliance across large-scale database platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and partner with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to enhance system stability and scalability.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the design and evolution of scalable database architectures supporting long-term platform strategy.
• Build and maintain automation, monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery systems to ensure database reliability and integrity.
• Provide technical leadership during incident response and on-call rotations, resolving complex database issues in high-pressure environments.

What You Need:

• 8+ years of experience in database administration, reliability engineering, or data platform engineering in production-scale environments.
• Deep expertise in MySQL, including performance tuning, replication, backup/recovery, and high-availability architectures.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS including RDS and Aurora; scripting with Python or Bash; and observability tools like PMM or New Relic.
