Staff Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute and evolve an incremental modernization strategy, safely transitioning legacy systems into well-bounded services.
• Manage coexistence between legacy and modern systems during transition, designing clear service boundaries and data ownership models.
• Ensure backward compatibility and safe evolution of APIs during migration while maintaining reliability.

Ideal Experience:

• Hands-on experience incrementally modernizing monolithic systems in production using patterns like strangler fig.
• Experience with system decomposition, service boundaries, and managing API/data contracts.
• Ability to balance migration velocity with system stability and risk, using observability practices.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong backend development experience in Ruby, Node.js, or similar; solid understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD, observability tools, and AI-augmented development tools.
