Staff Backend Engineer - Phone Billing

About the Role:

• Lead the technical direction and evolution of Phone Billing, a mission-critical component.
• Drive 1-2 high-impact initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition to rollout.
• Work hands-on with technologies like NestJS, Firestore, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis.

Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end technical health of Phone Billing, identifying bottlenecks and technical debt.
• Architect for massive scale, handling billions of monthly events.
• Drive observability and resilience, evolving monitoring and alerting strategies.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with 2+ years in a Staff role.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and async job processing.
• Proven experience with idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with usage-based billing or metering engines.
• Exposure to telecom trust and compliance regimes.
• Experience building provider-agnostic integration layers.
