Staff Backend Engineer - Second Horizon

About the Role:

• You will build the first production services for a context layer management system.
• You'll work with a high-autonomy team to shape architecture from dogfooding to SaaS.
• Responsibilities span ingestion, storage, retrieval APIs, and agent integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build core backend services: design, test, and operate ingestion, indexing, and retrieval.
• Create a scalable SaaS foundation with multi-tenant isolation, usage tracking, and quotas.
• Power agent-facing retrieval workflows with APIs and service interfaces.

What We're Looking For:

• Strong engineering skills with experience in production-grade user-facing systems.
• Practical AI experience with LLMs and prompt engineering.
• Ability to iterate quickly, take ownership, and communicate effectively.
