Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Licensure or certification such as CCS, CPC, CIC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years of hospital-based coding experience.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
- Seven or more years of hospital-based coding experience.
- Experience in Teaching and/or Trauma 1 Facilities.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Reviews work queue assignments and prioritizes work.
- Assigns and sequences diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Codes inpatient, same day surgery, and other records.
Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency of 95% or greater on coding audit reviews.
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy & physiology and medical terminology.
- Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
