Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of a quarterly print and digital magazine, including editorial planning, production schedules, article tracking, and approvals.
  • Translate complex technical and research information into clear, accurate, and engaging content for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Coordinate layout and production with graphic designers, integrating text, photography, data, charts, and illustrations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Technical Communications, or related field and 7–10 years of editorial and publication management experience.
  • Advanced substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking skills with knowledge of GPO and Chicago style guides.
  • Experience with Section 508 accessibility and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

About the Position:

  • Work independently and collaboratively with authors, technical experts, designers, and federal communications staff in a remote position.
  • Candidates in the DC metro area are preferred due to occasional in-person meetings in McLean, VA, or Washington, DC.
  • The role is contingent upon contract award and requires successful completion of a federal background investigation.
