Thumbtack's Developer Experience team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to make engineering fast, reliable, and delightful. You will partner with engineers company-wide to identify pain points, design solutions, and drive improvements. This role involves optimizing developer workflows, exploring new technologies, and driving impactful engineering projects to completion.

Initiate and drive applied science initiatives to completion with a focus on improving the acquisition, retention, and expansion of large professionals on the Thumbtack platform. Develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms for various supply shaping problems. Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, business development, and marketing teams to define problems, develop end-to-end solutions, and ensure successful implementation and monitoring of machine learning systems in production.

This role requires a strategic operator and systems thinker to architect and run the operating heartbeat of Thumbtack. The Head of BOPM will define and manage the operating model, ensuring rhythms, planning, and executive forums are simple, nimble, and effective. The role drives clarity and cohesion through company-wide processes, cascading communication, and strategic change initiatives, partnering closely with senior leadership.

As a Frontend Engineer on Frontend Infrastructure, you’ll own large projects from conception to launch. You’ll work with other teams to gather feedback, identify problems, propose solutions, and measure success. You’ll play a key role in contributing to the roadmap and your work will impact both user and business goals.

Define and drive the technical vision & strategies for your team across several domains and strategically partner with cross functional counterparts (product engineering, applied science, data science) on strategy, prioritization, and execution. Drive team execution against team-specific OKRs. Lead and manage the team as a highly-competent technical leader, who can help guide complex technical decisions. Hire, coach, and manage data engineers at all levels.

The Head of New Ventures is responsible for bringing "0 to 1" efforts to life. The New Ventures team ideates and incubates new ideas to unlock the next stage of growth for Thumbtack. This role involves partnering with internal and external partners across various teams and verticals, focused on creating value for customers, Pros, and Partners, meeting users at every stage of their homeownership/property management journey.

Data Scientists at Thumbtack are empowered to leverage their critical thinking, technical skills, and insights to help the company move quickly and confidently towards better products for our customers. As a Data Scientist on the Pro team, you’ll work with engineers, designers, and product/marketing managers to understand our Pro user base and build features that help them grow and succeed on our platform. Your analytical insights will help empower the team and Thumbtack more broadly to build the best product, as quickly as possible.

A self-driven individual with meticulous attention to detail combined with a high degree of integrity is needed to join the team as a Background Check Specialist. Day-to-day activities will encompass managing the background adjudication process, handling sensitive information with discretion, addressing identity verification impacting pros, and playing a pivotal role in executing data privacy initiatives such as data retrieval requests.
