Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain production database services on AWS (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, OpenSearch) with high availability and disaster recovery.
- Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs for database performance, lead incident response, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Automate database operations using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Python, Bash).
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance; Bachelor's degree and 8+ years experience or equivalent.
- 5+ years of production database administration on AWS with hands-on experience in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification required; AWS Database Specialty and Terraform certifications preferred.
Technologies:
- AWS data services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache) and core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, KMS, Secrets Manager).
- Relational databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server; advanced SQL, query optimization, and schema design.
- Observability tools: Dynatrace, Datadog, OpenTelemetry; automation: Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, Jenkins, Liquibase.
